MultiVersus, a fighting game developed by Warner Bros. Games, stated on its official Twitter account that it will be a part of the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) 2022, which will be hosted in Las Vegas on August 5-7, 2022. The event will be held in a 2V2 format, with a prize pool of $100,000 (£82,000).
MultiVersus, which is still in Closed Alpha, will be featured at EVO 2022 with titles such as Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7, and The King of Fighters XV. The addition of MultiVersus follows EVO’s declaration that Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros will not be featured at this year’s FGC showcase.
Warner Bros. Games’ new title, which is planned to be a free-to-play, multi-platform videogame with in-game purchases, is set to be released in 2022. The title, like previous brawler games, features characters from Warner Bros. and DC Comics.
Some of the confirmed in-game characters include Batman, Bugs Bunny, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones (voiced in the game by the TV series’ original actress Maisie Williams), Tom and Jerry, and Shaggy (Scooby-Doo).
Player First Games, created by industry veterans Tony Huynh (ex Riot Games and Sony Entertainment) and Chris White, is producing MultiVersus (former BioWare Mythic and Riot Games).
