Show this title to anyone who tells you that games aren’t works of art.
Absolutely stunning artwork, each and every detail is painstakingly created in pastel colors with delicate brushstrokes. Each photograph is one-of-a-kind and one-of-a-kind. From the moment you see them, both characters are lovable. And all of the backgrounds are alive and lonely at the same time, but always bright. Oh, the music – oh, the music! Even though there aren’t many tracks in the When The Past Was Around game and they all follow the same tune (which is the common thread that runs through all scenes), these sounds are crucial to the plot and elevate it to new heights. A piece of single music can be all of these things: sweet, sorrowful, enchanting, bitter, tragic, and happy.
Characters are drawn with care in the When the Past Was Around game, even those in the background, to make them stand out and support the main characters. What do you think of these two? While we were playing the game, Eda and the Owl became our friends, and we worried about them as if they were actual people. The authors performed a miracle by making both of these characters believable and realistic while maintaining the story’s mystery throughout. Story – as previously stated, there is a huge mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end. What is the name of this Owl? What is Eda’s relationship with him? What happened before we were born, and what will this world bring us? Do not dismiss the story of When the Past Was Around because it has various key philosophical and psychological insights.
We should say that there is a good range of both puzzles and interactive features in the When The Past Was Around game. There was virtually everything a point-and-click game could have: finding objects, matching them with other objects, moving pieces to the proper location, rotating pictures, creating or destroying things, you name it. The coolest aspect is that you can interact with a bunch of backdrop objects by clicking on them – some will simply make a sound, while others can be opened, removed, or even broken.
Some of the puzzles were a little too challenging; one in particular burned our brain and required us to work on it for more than an hour (We will tell more about it a bit later). When the Past Was Around game is short – around 3 hours – and if you abandon the scene, you will have to restart from the beginning rather than where you left off. According to the user’s comments, there are currently two bugs. In some cases, changing the screen resolution in the settings is not possible. In some chapters, the screen can grow at random and prevent you from moving. We had this issue at one point as well but didn’t realize it was a bug until we noticed other people commenting about it. Restarting the chapter will fix the problem.
To begin, we must express our gratitude to the developers who developed this small treasure. When The Past Was Around is simply stunning in every way! The artwork is stunning, as evidenced by the screenshots alone. All of the images in the game appear even better. We appreciate this form of art because it has a lot of lovely details, soothing hues, and a fairy-tale feel to it. The music is really lovely, and each UI feature has its unique violin sound. As previously stated, there is one song that serves as the central connecting point for all aspects of the story and trusts us when we say that it will break your heart the instant you hear it.
Even though you will need to look for some items, the point-and-click sections are not a hidden-objects game. You do, after all, have an inventory. However, there are no outlines of the things you need to locate, nor are there any phrases that describe what you require. So, when compared to classic point-and-click games like many from Bigfish or Artifex Mundi, we’d say When The Past Was Around is clearly a point-and-click title. Apart from that, there are enough interactive features throughout the plot to keep you occupied.
When it comes to the puzzles in the When The Past Was Around game, they’re all fascinating, even though a few of them perplexed us. Our major piece of advice is to keep an eye out for hints. Some are well-hidden and take significant mental effort, while others are visible or will be revealed later. So try to be as alert as possible; it will pay off.
By the way, let us tell you the epic narrative of our grandiose idiocy as an example of why rushing through When The Past Was Around game is a poor idea. There was a numerical problem that you had to find somewhere. We noticed numerous leads right away and began breaking them. We began to mistrust ourselves and the game after each combination: was it broken? Is there some sort of hiccup? Why isn’t it functioning properly? We gave up an hour later and dragged one of our colleagues into the fight. We all looked for clues, tried combining numbers, and tried anything else we could think of, but nothing worked this time. ‘OK,’ we responded and began pestering two of our coworkers. They also decided to join us in our epic puzzle war and contributed their own ideas.
It’s been an hour and a half… Before we decided to toss our laptop out the window, we were almost ready to just close the game and leave it. Then, at long last, it hit us! The solution was right in front of our eyes the entire time — we just chose to ignore it. We spent 90 minutes chasing something completely different, despite the fact that it was so straightforward. When we told our colleagues what we were doing incorrectly, they had a good chuckle at our expense. To be honest, we did, too, because our blunder was amusing. So, guys, girls, and young folks don’t make the same mistake we did in the When the Past Was Around game!
