In Revenants: Spirit & Mind, you’ll play as a professional occult detective, depending on your cutting-edge equipment to discover, trap, and battle demonic spirits from the year 2030, all while unraveling the mystery of occult crimes.
You’ll need a keen eye to gather evidence in each case, and you’ll want to document everything you find with your camera as you explore the abandoned crime sites in Revenants: Spirit & Mind. As a competent detective, you’ll also need to piece together the puzzle, connect the dots, and figure out who the perpetrators are. Select the technology you’ll use in each situation. Do you wish to track down and capture the revenant? Alternatively, set up surveillance and sensors to keep you away from it. In any case, you’ll always have your trusty tablet at your side, allowing you to visualize any evidence you come across and ward against evil forces. The Pentacam isn’t your average camera; it was created utilizing ancient ceremonial magic. As you power up the Pentacam and manifest them more with each shot, the demons should be scared of you. Until they’re finally caught inside the gadget.
Spirit & Mind has been dormant since it was shut down in 1997. What began with the disappearance of Emily, a little child, quickly spiraled out of control, resulting in the injuries of many pupils and police officers. It’s taken 33 years for the technology to finally level the playing field, and you’re finally ready to return to Spirit & Mind Academy.
So, while this game Revenants: Spirit & Mind has a lot of parallels to Phasmophobia, it isn’t quite as amazing. It’s essentially a single-player version of Phasmophobia, using the school map as the setting. There’s also a plot here, in which you play as an occult detective seeking to figure out what happened to a missing girl.
You have four weapons in Revenants: Spirit & Mind: a cube that reacts anytime a demon or revenant approaches, a stun light grenade that stuns and then slows the demon, CCTV cameras, and tesla shock coils that can trap an area. You also have a tablet that you can use to get case information or take UV photographs with. You can use the UV to see clues and also to injure revenants with magic photographs.
The Unity Engine is used to operate the Revenants: Spirit & Mind. On our RTX 3080, the game ran at a constant 90 frames per second on high graphical settings. You have full movement and can turn smoothly and quickly (along with the degree of turn or how fast you smooth turn). There’s also a comfy option, as well as head-directed or hand-directed movement. Because there is a crouch button, you may play the game seated, but we found that we were a little too low to the ground by default, so we played standing.
Overall, the Revenants: Spirit & Mind game is reasonably priced, with a usual price of 419 INR (we paid 10 percent off the release sale price). As a result, even though the gameplay is lacking in-depth, we can suggest it. The sound design/mix, in our opinion, is the main flaw (in comparison to Phasmo). It isn’t very good in this game, and there were extended periods of time when there was no sound at all. We also believe that the Revenants: Spirit & Mind gameplay might benefit from a lot more depth. We were never truly terrified like in Phasmophobia. It is, however, under Early Access, and it is a good start to EA (just not a nice of a start as was the case in Phasmo).
