A truly creepy soundtrack and beautiful 2D art will take you to a dark tale and give you few unforgettable hours!
Creepy Tale is a hand-drawn, short, and sweet adventure game that will appeal to fans of adventure, puzzles, and horror. Despite the fact that it only lasts a few hours, the colorful, yet somehow charming artwork and basic gameplay make it a difficult game to detest and one that should not be avoided because of its short playtime.
The story of Creepy Tale opens with the young unnamed protagonist and his sibling taking a leisurely stroll through the woods, gathering mushrooms innocently. Tragically, the brother is pulled into the abyss by sinister-looking animals from another realm before long. The formerly tranquil forest is converted into a nightmare filled with evil, which our hero must explore and battle in order to save his brother and restore peace to the area. Find out what happened to the once-calm and lovely forest, and how it was turned into a terrifying area filled with evil. Perhaps you’ll be the one to unlock the forest’s mysteries and save the peaceful creatures? Explore the mysterious woodland, meet some nice and not-so-friendly residents, solve puzzles, and, most importantly, avoid being caught or falling victim to the various death traps strewn throughout the map.
Only the A and D keys are utilized to travel in this 2D sidescroller, with Z serving as the ‘use’ button. Although these controls cannot be remapped, the Creepy Tale game does support all controllers. Some goods are tough to find, but they are usually within a limited radius, and We have never been unable to continue because of this. The puzzles are logical and straightforward, with adjacent codes/instructions for various combinations and minimal to no retracing.
The small number of enemies is expertly constructed and succeeds in making players feel apprehensive, particularly when mixed with the frightening sound effects. They must be outwitted by the protagonist, who must hide in neighboring cupboards, chests, or even plants! Direct confrontations usually result in death because we can’t flee the creatures if we get too near, but because of the merciful save mechanism, this isn’t a problem. Nonetheless, it’s pretty simple, and even if it takes a death or two, we’ll always be able to figure out what we are supposed to do.
Creepy Tale’s distinctive quality is its hand-drawn artwork, which shines brightly. Its foreboding universe is accentuated by the overcast and bleak colors, which effectively showcase the drab atmosphere. With their extremely unusual look, the foes evoke a scary air while simultaneously appearing to belong in children’s storybooks.
The Creepy Tale game’s store website claims that it has a “really frightening” soundtrack, which it does. Although there is no conversation, the film compensates by making good use of sound to create an eerie mood. The woodland is devoid of life, and the sound contributes to this sensation of isolation. When an enemy sees a player, the spooky gasps, sneers, and heightened effects can all be summed up by the game’s title: creepy! It’s not scary in the typical horror sense, but it’s a kind of dread that many people can relate to.
