At The Game Awards, there was a slew of announcements. The long-awaited release of Alan Wake II is one of the most fascinating. The new game, which has been rumored in various forms for years, promises to finally give us some answers – or perhaps just more questions – about the enigmatic writer and his exploits.
In the clip, we hear a mysterious voice narrate about having high hopes for a story, but also realizing that a story isn’t always what you anticipate or want it to be. “This story is a monster, and monsters wear many faces,” we hear as the camera zooms in on a lone figure in a bleak hamlet.
The new teaser offered us our first glimpse at Alan Wake II, as well as a 2023 release date. Sam Lake, Remedy’s creative director, was on hand at The Game Awards to reveal that the sequel will be a survival/horror game, rather than an action game.
Regrettably, Remedy’s Lake also confirmed that we won’t know much more about the game until the summer of 2022. Remedy’s Alan Wake II, on the other hand, is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox One X/S, and the Epic Games Store.
