In the past month, Serpent Hill was terrorized by a string of mysterious deaths and the townโs new sheriff, Amber is in need of an urgent help. Can you assist Amber in solving this series of cases involving a strange serpent-like creature in Chimeras: Cherished Serpent?
The Chimeras series has a spotty record for sure and is perhaps, Elephant Gamesโ least interesting franchise. Unfortunately, this eleventh installment does not do much to debunk that trend and presents another ho-hum adventure. Not only is the storyline in Chimeras: Cherished Serpent quite boring, it is also unnecessarily convoluted. That might be due to the lack of adequate explanation for multiple story elements as well as the poorly-developed backstory.
As expected, Chimeras: Cherished Serpent does not bring anything new to the genre with its simplistic gameplay. If you are already familiar with the hidden object adventure genre, you will most likely find this game to be extremely easy. The hidden object scenes resort to predictable formulas and large objects, whereas the puzzles take slight more risks, which result in a more enjoyable experience.
Elephant Games maintains its high standards when it comes to the visuals. Chimeras: Cherished Serpent uses a wide range of colors, although it mainly focuses on the rich purple hue. Details are neatly captured through sharp graphics and special effects are utilized effectively to bring moments to life. As for the audio, the voice-overs are a little dry at times, but the ominous music is usually great at soundtracking scenes.
Chimeras: Cherished Serpent has a fair length of three and a half hours. The Collectorโs Edition adds a 50-minutes bonus chapter, a strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, soundtracks, achievements, collectibles, morphing objects, jigsaw puzzle, and a secret room.
Once again, the Chimeras series refuses to venture beyond the box and offers yet another cookie-cutter adventure.
