Saltshore is facing a great crisis when its residents turned murderous! Many believe that the reason behind this madness is that the legendary pirate named โThe Storm of the Seasโ has risen from his grave and is seeking revenge on this quaint town. Can you, one of the worldโs greatest detectives, save the town citizens from the grasps of this bloodthirsty pirate?
4 Friends Games brings us another captivating plot with this new Edge of Reality game. It feels like ever since the wonderful Sea of Lies and Nightmares from the Deep series ended, we have not been getting enough memorable pirate-themed adventures. While Edge of Reality: Mark of Fate is not on the level of the iconic classics mentioned, it is an exciting pirates adventure in its own right.
Saltshoreโs eccentric and ominous atmosphere also adds to the experience. This is brought to life by high-quality graphics and some top-notch animations. There definitely could have been more creativity put into the location designs, but just like other Edge of Reality installments, it is difficult to fault when every single location is beautifully drawn and painted. The game is also quite impressive when it comes to its audio. From the music to the sound effects to the voice-overs, all components work in harmony to create a mesmerizing experience.
Gameplay-wise, Edge of Reality: Mark of Fate is fairly predictable. Its adventure tasks, hidden object scenes, and puzzles are all extremely smooth and well-done but do not venture outside the studioโs safe zones. Moreover, the game includes two special features; a dog helper and a time-stopping amulet. The helper successfully strikes the right balance between cute and annoying and the amulet gadget feels earned and not out-of-place.
Edge of Reality: Mark of Fate Collectorโs Edition adds another 50 minutes to its 3.5 hours standard runtime. Other features include a strategy guide, wallpapers, screensavers, concept art, soundtracks, videos, replayable hidden object scenes, replayable puzzles, achievements, collectibles, and morphing objects.
