Coming off the unexpected success of her indie feature Prohibited Love, Maggie is now ready for her first feature film – Immense Darkness! But directing a movie all on her own is no easy feat, as she needs to manage different aspects of the production in order to create a perfect picture. Once again, can you help Maggie direct her debut major motion picture and navigate her messy personal life?
Hollywood-themed Time Management games are always so entertaining and it is a shame that there are not more of them. Apart from the now-discontinued Soap Opera Dash and 2017’s Maggie’s Movies: Camera, Action!, Time Management games that take place in the entertainment industry are hard to come by. And so, I appreciate whenever a new one arrives onto the scene as it is the case with this latest Gamehouse Original Stories title.
Maggie’s Movies: Second Shot launches Maggie into a bigger and more hectic production. All the core mechanics that make up a typical Snuggford game are front and center, but the addition of fun production-related elements is enough to freshen up the experience. Along with completing all the usual requests from the customers (in this case, the cast and crew’s), Time Management fans will also enjoy handling the props department, assisting the cinematographer, and most importantly, directing the motion picture.
These activities are cleverly embedded into the gameplay, the entertaining storyline, and the well-thought-out mini-games. Unlike the mini-games in some of Gamehouse Original Stories games (a recent example being Amber’s Airline: 7 Wonders), the mini-games here are quite amazing. Not only are they cleverly tied into the game’s storyline and themes as to not disrupt the game’s flow, but they are also precisely designed to be easy to control whether it is via touchscreens or traditional computer mouse devices.
Maggie’s Movies: Second Shot also excels in the presentation department, with lively graphics and upbeat music that exude such infectious positive energy. Furthermore, the game remains extremely engaging throughout its 60 story levels and 19 challenge levels both through its fast-paced gameplay and side features. These side features include an aquarium where you can spend your diamonds to decorate, collectible chameleons, achievements, characters to explore, movie set upgrades, and items that can be strategically customized to help you win the game’s challenging levels.
