Paranormal Files: The Hook Man’s Legend Review – A Creepy Who-Dun-It Adventure
Our favorite paranormal detective Rick Rogers returns with another challenging case! After receiving a distress call from a young woman, Rick Rogers rushes to Ashen Valley to solve its ghost problem. A hooked man has been terrorizing the town’s citizens, but is he actually real or Rick facing a ghost problem of his own? Find out in Paranormal Files: The Hook Man’s Legend from Elephant Games.
For its past two installments, the Paranormal Files series has won the hearts of paranormal mystery lovers everywhere. In this third chapter, the series delivers yet another captivating ghost mystery with an old-school feel. With plenty of twists and turns and a creepy premise, Paranormal Files: The Hook Man’s Legend is the perfect game to play this Halloween. The game’s rather mature theme and lack of explicit gore and violence also make it suitable for players of all demographics.
Part of what makes Paranormal Files: The Hook Man as spooky as it is has to do with its production. The dark graphics and haunting music are effective in setting up the atmosphere. Not to mention that the actual quality of the artwork and the animations is superb, making the game an engaging ride all the way through.
As for the gameplay, Paranormal Files: The Hook Man checks all the right boxes but does not bring anything new to the table. The adventure gameplay is fairly simple, featuring cookie-cutter tasks and a predictable progression. The hidden object scenes and the puzzles are fresher, offering some neat and creative ideas.
Paranormal Files: The Hook Man packs its thrilling storyline into a concise three and a half hours runtime. The Collector’s Edition comes with all the usual features; a bonus chapter, a strategy guide, wallpapers, a screensaver, concept art, soundtracks, replayable hidden object scenes, replayable puzzles, achievements, collectibles, morphing objects, a very clever secret room.
