Your best friend Joanne lost her parents and her childhood home to a raging fire when she was young. Today she asked you to accompany her to the site of this tragedy to unlock the mystery behind the incident. This Halloween why not step into the sinister world of Haunted Manor: Remembrance for some psychologically thrilling fun?
Ever since Eipix Entertainment took over the Haunted Manor franchise, with sequels like The Last Reunion and Halloweenโs Uninvited Guest, the franchise has incorporated more psychological thriller elements into its themes. This is great news for players who canโt get enough of the psychological thriller genre, but might be disappointing to those who prefer slow-building creepy games. Nonetheless, it is hard to deny the wildly imaginative storyline in Haunted Manor: Remembrance. While parts of it are somewhat illogical and random, I appreciate the efforts and the lengths that the studio goes into making this a more exciting, refreshing, and at times visually disturbing experience.
As mentioned, Haunted Manor: Remembrance contains plenty of memorable visual moments. These never feel out of place as they fit well within the context of the game. As for the actual quality of the visuals, it lives up to Eipixโs usual high standards and if not, delivers beyond expectations with its fantastic animations. The background music and the sound effects are also exceptional in this game, they are cued at the right time, are real haunting, and are never distracting.
Gameplay-wise, Haunted Manor: Remembrance is not much of a departure from the norm. Although the creative aspects of the game allow for some flexibility and an unconventionalย approach to tasks, the overall gameplay is still quite simple. The hidden object scenes and the puzzles are neither particularly innovative nor challenging.
Regardless, Haunted Manor: Remembrance is definitely entertaining and its four-hour runtime is used to its full potential. The Collectorโs Edition comes with all the standard features; a strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, soundtracks, videos, replayable hidden object scenes, replayable puzzles, achievements, collectibles, morphing objects, and a souvenir room.
