The Queen of Hearts has found away to escape Wonderland and entered the human world, leading to people all over losing their Christmas spirit! Help the White Rabbit and Santa bring back the magic and save Christmas as you, Alice navigate the whimsical Wonderland landscapes in Christmas Stories: Alice’s Adventures.
Elephant Games’ annual Christmas-themed series never fails to exudes the holiday magic. This latest sequel is loosely based on the beloved tale of Alice in Wonderland, featuring various characters from that classic story. Apart from that, however, there is not enough that distinguishes Alice’s Adventures from other “save the Christmas” games. I also thought the characters are not very likable, perhaps due to their appearances, which are extremely cheesy to the point that they are venturing near the “creepy” territory.
That being said, there is no doubt that Christmas Stories: Alice’s Adventures is created with a family audience in mind. The gameplay is kid-friendly, with little challenge or edgy elements. The game leans heavily toward puzzles, as opposed to hidden object scenes. The variety of the puzzles is definitely welcoming, although creativity is lacking. The hidden object scenes are considerably more enjoyable, partly because of the abundance of glossy holiday-related items present in the scenes.
Many come to the Christmas Stories games for their always reliable extravagant visuals and Alice’s Adventures does not disappoint in that regard. The artwork, the colors, and the graphics quality are all excellent and act as real treats for the eyes. Moreover, the melodic music also helps enhance the magical and joyful atmosphere of the game.
The Collector’s Edition comes with a nice array of features, none of which are unexpected. This includes a bonus chapter, a strategy guide, wallpapers, screensavers, concept art, soundtracks, repayable hidden object scenes, replayable mini-games, achievements, collectibles, and morphing objects.
