Delicious is back with its sixteenth installment and this time, there are conflicts in the OโMalley family! Emily has her hands full managing her brand and helping Little Luna, a baby food brand featuring her recipes, getting started. Patrick has put his work on hiatus to take on full childcare responsibilities, but can he manage that? Tackle the age-old debate of males versus females in this latest Delicious sequel!
The Delicious series has always been about helping Emily get her restaurants off the ground, but lately, that focus has shifted to her family and the drama among the members. While we appreciate the dynamics between all these characters, we feel like the developer went a little too far with this installment. Helping Emily successfully runs the restaurants seems to be the second priority in this sequel, while tackling family drama seems to be the center of all the narratives. Overall, we were just not as emotionally engaged in the storyline in this sequel as we were with some of the past installments.
That being said, we see no major issues with all the other aspects of the game. The production is stellar as usual, with bright and colorful graphics and upbeat and joyful soundtracks. We particularly love the level designs in this sequel. The creativity is evident in some of these locations and scenes, which is definitely refreshing to see.
The game consists of 60 levels, spanning across six locations, and 30 challenge levels. All these levels are of moderate difficulty and long-time fans of the series should have no trouble navigating through them. Weirdly, all levels of Delicious: Emilyโs Moms vs Dads feature two controllable characters. The game mainly only allows us to interact with one, while the other just stands there putting specific customer orders on the tray. We appreciate the change, but at the same time, it is unnecessary and somewhat confusing.
One new feature we like in Delicious: Emilyโs Moms vs Dads is the Daily Challenges. These daily challenges reset themselves daily and allow the player to collect more diamonds to purchase items for Emilyโs backyard. This is a neat interactive touch that signals promising progresses for the series.
Delicious: Emilyโs Moms vs Dads might not be able to deliver an entertaining storyline, but as a Time Management game, it is still an excellent offering.
