As a member of the royal Secret Service, you are summoned by the Cardinal to help protect him from possible danger. All of the victims of recent murders in the city have received the same letter accusing them of treason against the crown prior to their deaths. Now that the cardinal has received this deadly letter too, and with all the evidence pointing towards a mysterious man behind the iron mask – you need to do everything in your power to protect the cardinal and solve this mystery.
ERS-G is known for unnecessarily dragging out its franchises, and although we still think the Haunted Legends should have been long retired – we are not even mad this time. For once, a Haunted Legends game is delivering good storyline. Haunted Legends: The Iron Mask captivates us all the way through with its interesting story, chilling environment and a believable 17th-century France theme.
Production wise, Haunted Legends: The Iron Mask lives up to the studio’s reputation. The graphics are of high-quality, the artwork is detailed and the animations are quite impressive. There is nothing particularly- mind-blowing about the visuals, but they are up to the standards expected from a Collector’s Edition game. Besides, the voice-acting is absolutely excellent, which adds more to the experience of the game.
As usual, Haunted Legends: The Iron Mask is a very well-built game. The game mechanics are flawless, with every single aspect geared to perfection. What The Iron Mask seems to lack are the bells and whistles. While we do enjoy the great adventure, the entertaining hidden object scenes and the neat puzzles – we can’t help but feel like the game is missing something, perhaps it’s originality.
Haunted Legends: The Iron Mask took us the typical 4 hours to finish, and the bonus chapter took us another 50 minutes. The Collector’s Edition comes with all the usual stuff; wallpapers, concept art, screensavers, soundtracks, movies, achievements, collectibles, a strategy guide, replayable puzzles and replayable hidden objects.
